Hello! I'm Weam.

My experience includes teaching and leading English across IB, IGCSE, MYP, and American curricula. I have taught IB Diploma Programme English Language & Literature, MYP English, IGCSE English, academic writing, literary analysis, and TOK. I currently hold an English leadership position and have extensive experience designing curriculum, developing assessments, differentiating instruction, and supporting students with a wide range of learning needs.

I am also an IB Diploma Programme Language & Literature Examiner, which has strengthened my understanding of assessment standards and what students need to demonstrate in order to produce high-quality responses. I particularly enjoy helping IB students develop deeper analysis, stronger arguments, effective essay structures, and a more sophisticated understanding of literary and non-literary texts.

The subjects I feel most confident and enthusiastic about tutoring are IB English Language & Literature, IGCSE English, MYP English, academic writing, literary and textual analysis, and IELTS Academic preparation, particularly Writing and Speaking. I achieved an IELTS Academic Band 8.0, and I enjoy helping students develop the language accuracy, organisation, vocabulary, and confidence required to achieve higher band scores.

My tutoring approach is personalised and student-centred. I believe effective tutoring should go beyond helping students complete homework or prepare for a single examination. My aim is to help students understand how to improve, recognise their own strengths and weaknesses, and develop skills they can apply independently.

I am particularly interested in working with Acady because it would allow me to combine my extensive classroom and assessment experience with more personalised one-to-one and small-group support. I would be excited to contribute my expertise while continuing to make a meaningful difference in students' academic journeys.

My tutoring approach is student-centred, supportive, and goal-oriented. I begin by identifying each student’s strengths, learning needs, and academic goals, then adapt my teaching accordingly. I use explicit instruction, modelling, guided practice, questioning, discussion, and targeted feedback to develop understanding and independence. I encourage students to think critically, explain their reasoning, and apply skills independently. My communication style is clear, encouraging, and respectful. I build rapport easily, explain complex concepts in accessible ways, and provide constructive feedback that motivates students while helping them recognise specific areas for improvement.
