A graduate student with tutoring and teaching experience in France and London, having experience in English secondary schools teaching modern foreign languages, bilingual schools in Paris and home tutoring for primary enrolled in french schools with bilingual curriculums in the UK. I have studied towards a PGCE MFL for a term but I've chosen to pursue an IB teaching certificate next year instead. I've taught in the UK but didn't carry on. My placement tutor was not a French nor English native although teaching the latter ! I now can identify the misconceptions his lessons created with students, and can make up for the lack of knowlege/confusion and I have experience of backing up his lessons up to GCSE level. I have Cambridge CAE with speaking up to C2.

About

I'm a 24 year old graduate student having lived in the UK, Paris and soon Madrid, fond of travels, languages, and I love reading as well.
I'm soon going to train to teach in the IB system, after having taught and tutored GCSE language students in the UK, when I was a teacher trainee for the past semester and helped French-bilingual primary school students with homework when studying in the UK.

I'd be eager to helping you achieve better grades or learn languages at school !

Teaching experience

  • Primary tutoring in France, French curriculum
  • English and primary tutoring OIB English
  • Internship at an OIB primary school for two weeks
  • Tutoring Primary French and bilingual French primary schools in London
  • Teaching GCSE (year 9 to year 11) and observing A-level French and Spanish lessons in a London secondary school as a trainee
  • Teaching and assisting at a French-English montessori bilingual preschool in Paris, based on the French Education Nationale curriculum

Teaching methods

I'm a Master of International Education + International Baccalaureate student. Former PGCE student in London and now teaching French and English at a bilingual school in Paris.

As a teacher and tutor, during my lessons when taught, I'd start by retrieving the previous lesson content knowledge and building on that knowledge to introduce new ideas. The methods used varied but consisted mainly of grammar exercises, filling the gaps, going through new and already known tenses and concepts, retrieving the latter. A major part of the lesson in GCSE levels typical lesson revolved around repeating key sentences, involving exam-type structures and reading aloud to boost confidence.

As for Year 11 lessons, the session would consist of reviewing and learning vocabulary associated to the exam topics, learning and working on grammar and exam type oral expression, written description, gap fillers and once again to familiarize oneself with the exam expectations.

During a primary tutoring session, we would review the content of the lesson, make sure the key ideas were known and go through the exercises or reciting the lesson by focusing on the main ideas at hand.
