Native and bilingual French teacher in Singapore - Academic support and personalized lessons in French and mathematics (primary, middle school)

About

Hello! My name is Nicolas, I am 21 years old and I am originally from the Paris region. Having lived in Singapore for 13 years, I have followed both the French and Singaporean education systems, which has allowed me to develop a perfect command of French and English, as well as an in-depth understanding of the academic requirements of French-speaking students living abroad.

Having settled permanently in Singapore, I am fully familiar with the specific needs of expatriate families, which allows me to offer support tailored to their daily reality.

I am currently a student in the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program at ESSEC, and I also completed my national service in Singapore, where I strengthened my sense of responsibility, my rigor, and my skills in stress management and teamwork.

👉 Why French and mathematics?
French is my native language, and I have always enjoyed passing on this linguistic and cultural richness. Aware of the specific difficulties faced by French students living abroad (lack of exposure to the language, different methodologies depending on the curriculum), I adapt my lessons to help them progress effectively and with confidence.

At the same time, mathematics is a key subject in schooling, and I have often noticed that some students need structured support to gain in logic and confidence. Having received a rigorous education in this field and achieved excellent results in mathematics through high school, I offer math support up to middle school level, focusing on understanding concepts and methodically applying exercises.

Teaching experience

I have been teaching for several years, in various contexts:
✅ Private lessons in French and mathematics for French-speaking and non-French-speaking children in Singapore
✅ Homework help for my little sister and friends' children, enrolled in international schools
✅ Exam preparation for non-French-speaking students (O Level French)

👉 Why do I teach?
I discovered early on the pleasure of seeing a student gain confidence, progress, and achieve their goals. My empathy, patience, and adaptability allow me to create a reassuring and motivating environment, where every student dares to ask questions and learn at their own pace.

Teaching methods

Interactive, personalized method adapted to each student's needs.
➡️ Young children (primary school): playful learning, development of curiosity, work on oral skills to build confidence.
➡️ Middle school students: rigorous methodology, consolidation of grammar and written expression in French, development of logic and mathematical skills.
➡️ Homework help: comprehensive support in French and mathematics, as well as in English or other subjects if needed.

I am also familiar with the French, Singaporean, and international curricula (IB, IGCSE, UK Curriculum), which allows me to adjust my lessons according to each student's academic expectations.

Each student is unique: I build my lessons around their strengths, weaknesses, and personal goals. I place great importance on building a relationship of trust with each family, and on providing regular follow-up to measure progress and adapt my methods.
