Learn Chemistry with an Experienced Cambridge/IB Specialist
About
I hold both a BSc and MSc in Chemistry from the University of Wollongong, Australia, and have over 20 years of Chemistry teaching experience. I am currently the Head of Science and Head of Chemistry at a Singapore international school, where I lead a Science programme that combines Cambridge and Singapore curricula.
I specialise in Cambridge IGCSE, O Level, AS and A Level Chemistry, and also have experience teaching Pearson Edexcel, IB and AP Chemistry. With my extensive teaching experience, I understand what examiners expect and help students develop both a strong understanding of Chemistry and the exam techniques needed to achieve higher marks.

10+ years of teaching
Chemistry
For the past 11 years, I have been teaching Cambridge IGCSE and AS/A Level Chemistry full-time, developing extensive expertise in syllabus delivery, examination preparation, and assessment requirements. On average, approximately 70% of my IGCSE students achieve grades A*–A, while around 50% of my AS and A Level students achieve grades A*–A.
In addition to Cambridge Chemistry, I have experience teaching Cambridge O Level, Singapore-Cambridge O Level, Pearson Edexcel, IB Diploma Chemistry (HL/SL), and AP Chemistry. I have taught students aged 12–18, from building strong foundations in lower secondary Chemistry to preparing students for advanced pre-university examinations.
My teaching focuses on developing a deep understanding of chemical concepts rather than relying on memorisation alone. I help students tackle challenging topics, apply their knowledge to unfamiliar situations, interpret examination questions, and structure answers according to mark-scheme expectations. Through targeted practice, past-paper analysis, and personalised support, I aim to help every student build confidence and achieve their full potential in Chemistry.
Teaching methods
I structure my lessons around each student's needs and learning goals. I begin with diagnostic questions to assess their understanding and identify gaps in prior knowledge. I then explain concepts using clear examples, visual aids, and real-life applications, followed by worked examples, guided practice, and independent problem-solving. I adapt the pace and level of support to each student, providing additional explanations and foundational practice where needed, or more challenging questions for students aiming for top grades. I make extensive use of past-paper questions, mark schemes, and examiner expectations to develop strong exam techniques. Using digital whiteboards, annotated PDFs, and interactive online tools, I create engaging lessons that help students understand Chemistry, build confidence, and become independent learners.
