IB Certified Tutor, PhD Classics (University of Chicago), Expert in English, Italian & Classical Languages
About
I am an IB-certified teacher with a PhD in Classics from the University of Chicago and many years of experience guiding students at both high school and university level. I teach IB English A: Language & Literature (HL and SL), Italian Language & Literature, and Classical Languages (Latin and Ancient Greek).
My approach combines academic rigor with a student-centered perspective: I help learners strengthen their analytical and writing skills while encouraging curiosity, confidence, and independence. With a background in research and teaching across different cultures and age groups, I bring international mindedness and interdisciplinary insight to every lesson.
Whether students are aiming for top IB scores, building university-level skills, or simply learning to enjoy literature and languages, I provide the tools and support to help them succeed.

Teaching experience
I have extensive experience teaching across different educational systems and age groups. In Italy, I taught high school students, guiding them through literature, languages, and essay-writing with a focus on clarity and critical thinking. In the United States, I taught at the University of Chicago, where I worked with undergraduates on Classical texts, philosophy, and writing. In France, I teach at an International school (middle and highscholers).
This combination of secondary and university-level teaching has equipped me to adapt my methods to students with diverse backgrounds and goals — from those preparing for IB assessments to those aiming to excel in advanced academic study. My international teaching journey has strengthened my ability to connect with students, support their growth, and inspire a genuine love of learning.
Teaching methods
My teaching is grounded in the IB philosophy of inquiry and critical thinking. I guide students to become active learners by asking meaningful questions, making connections across texts and contexts, and developing their own voice.
Lessons are tailored to individual needs: I use close reading, discussion, and targeted writing practice to strengthen analysis and communication skills. For Classical Languages, I combine philological precision with strategies that make Latin and Ancient Greek engaging and accessible.
I integrate exam preparation with broader learning, ensuring students feel confident for assessments while also deepening their appreciation of literature and languages. Above all, I aim to create a supportive and motivating environment, helping students build independence, curiosity, and confidence in their abilities.
