French-American Bilingual Educator | Languages • Inclusive Education • Curriculum Transitions

About

As a French-American bilingual and bicultural educator, I support students through an approach that combines high expectations, kindness and personalised learning.

Holding a PGCEi (University of Nottingham) and a Master of Education specialising in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), I have taught in both French and international educational settings, from early years through lower secondary, as well as providing one-to-one tuition.

Having grown up and worked across both French and American cultures, I understand the challenges that can arise when students transition between languages, curricula and different approaches to learning. I help students strengthen their understanding, develop independence and build the confidence they need to thrive throughout their educational journey.

My background in inclusive education enables me to adapt my teaching to each child's individual strengths and needs, whether the goal is to consolidate learning, develop effective study skills or rediscover the enjoyment of learning.

Teaching experience

  • As a French-American bilingual and bicultural educator, I have taught in both French and international educational settings, supporting students from Early Years through Lower Secondary, in both classroom and one-to-one environments.
  • My experience includes:
  • KG1 (American curriculum)
  • CE1 and CE2 (French National Curriculum)
  • English language development using the Cambridge English programme, from primary through lower secondary
  • Private tutoring and one-to-one academic support
  • Supporting students following the French curriculum up to Year 8 (5ème)
  • Inclusive education and support for students with diverse learning profiles, including neurodivergent learners
  • Supporting students through curriculum transitions between the French, British, American and IB educational systems
  • Introductory training in the philosophy and pedagogical approaches of the International Baccalaureate (IB)

Teaching methods

Each programme begins with a discussion with both the family and the student to understand the learner's needs, educational background, goals and individual learning style.

I then tailor my teaching to the student's profile, focusing on conceptual understanding, the development of independence, effective study skills and self-confidence.

When a student is transitioning between educational systems (French, British, American or IB), I identify the differences in curriculum, expectations and learning approaches, as well as any gaps or existing strengths, to ensure a smooth and confident transition.
