✨ Skilled English Teacher Specialising in Teens and Young Adults, Focused on Confidence, Communication, and Academic Success ✨

About

I’ve been teaching English for several years, mainly working with teenagers and young adults from a range of different countries and backgrounds. Through this, I’ve learned how important it is not just to improve a student’s English, but to help them feel more comfortable and confident using it in everyday situations, especially when they’re adjusting to a new school or environment.

Some students come to me for exam support, while others need help keeping up with schoolwork or expressing themselves more easily in English.

I’ve also helped students prepare for exams such as IELTS, TOEFL, and Trinity, so I understand what’s required and how to guide them in a clear, practical way without adding unnecessary pressure.

In my lessons, I focus on what’s useful and relevant to each student, keeping things clear and engaging without making it feel overwhelming. I naturally connect well with students from different cultures, and I try to create a space where they feel comfortable, understood, and able to make steady progress over time.

Teaching experience

A significant part of my career has been spent teaching abroad, where I worked with students from a wide mix of cultural and linguistic backgrounds. This experience helped me become adaptable in my teaching and quick to understand what different learners need in order to progress.

Working internationally also gave me the opportunity to engage with students who were adjusting to new education systems and languages, which strengthened my ability to build rapport quickly and make lessons feel comfortable and accessible from the start. It’s something I’ve carried into all my teaching since.

Alongside general English support, I’ve worked with students preparing for exams such as IELTS, TOEFL, and Trinity, and successfully guiding them in securing university placements, study abroad opportunities, and roles in their chosen careers. Seeing students take these next steps has been one of the most rewarding parts of my work.

I enjoy connecting with different cultures, communication styles, and perspectives, which naturally feeds into my work and keeps my lessons dynamic and relevant. I bring a calm, approachable presence to my teaching, and I aim to make each student feel understood, supported, and able to succeed in their own way.

Teaching methods

My lessons are shaped around how each student learns best, with a clear focus on building understanding step by step. I keep sessions well-structured, but flexible enough to follow the student’s pace and needs on any given day.

I focus on helping students actually use English with confidence, whether that’s in speaking, writing, or understanding what they read and hear. When working with exam students, I guide them through practical techniques and consistent practice so they feel prepared and know what to expect.

With younger learners and teens, I aim to keep things relevant and easy to connect with, so they stay engaged and can see how English applies to their everyday lives.

In general, I’m patient, consistent, and very attentive to progress. I pay close attention to where a student is struggling and adjust my approach so they can keep moving forward
