About

Hello, my name is Antoine Fourniols. I am a master's student at the École Normale Supérieure de Rennes, in mechatronics and complex systems engineering. I am currently doing a research internship at CNRS@CREATE in Singapore.

Teaching experience

For the past three years, I have been regularly supporting students in scientific subjects, mainly in mathematics and physics.

In particular, I supported a student for two years in preparation for the baccalauréat and for entry into a scientific classe préparatoire. This support allowed him to make significant progress, going from an average of about 9.5 to 16 out of 20.

I also supported a student enrolled at Franklin, with regular work in mathematics that took him from 15th to 2nd in the class in this subject. We also worked in advance on the methods and requirements expected in classe préparatoire.

At the same time, I have been able to support undergraduate and classe préparatoire students, both for support sessions and for consolidating fundamentals and going further. These experiences have taught me to adapt my teaching to the level, pace and goals of each student.

Teaching methods

For the past three years, I have been regularly helping students in scientific subjects, particularly in mathematics and physics. My background in scientific classe préparatoire, then at the École Normale Supérieure de Rennes, has given me a rigorous working method, which I try to pass on in an accessible, clear and enjoyable way.

How does my method work?

My method is first based on precisely identifying the student's difficulties: understanding of the course material, problem solving method, writing, time management or exam preparation. I make sure in particular that the course material is truly understood, so that the student is able to reconstruct it and reuse it in different types of exercises.

Being familiar with the requirements of high school exams, I also offer regular progress reviews, along with exercises specifically targeted at the format of the exam being prepared. This makes it possible to measure progress, strengthen weak points and effectively work on the expected methods.

I am used to explaining complex concepts progressively, adapting to the level and goals of each student. I can support both students who need to go back over the fundamentals and students who wish to go deeper into certain concepts and get ahead.

I place great importance on writing and rigor, in order to help the student structure their reasoning and gain every possible point in tailor made assessments.

During sessions, I try to make the student active: I help them formulate their reasoning, identify common mistakes and build reusable methods. The goal is to strengthen understanding, rigor and confidence at the same time, particularly for tests, exams and the baccalauréat.

Finally, I also offer catch up and deepening sessions during holidays, in order to consolidate what has been learned and to approach the return to school in the best possible conditions.
