About

Cambridge MBA and Imperial MSc graduate, I am an IB Economics HL/SL tutor with 3+ years of online teaching experience through VIPTutors and New Oriental. I have coached 150+ students and helped IB Economics students improve from predicted 4–5s to final 6–7s. My lessons combine clear explanations, exam-focused practice and real-world examples from economics, business and technology. I also bring extensive admissions experience: 100+ students guided, 150+ mock interviews and 80+ essays reviewed for leading UK, Hong Kong and US universities. With a University of Washington Economics degree, an MBA summer internship at Microsoft and strategy roles at [Trip.com](http://Trip.com), Tencent and EY-Parthenon, I help students connect academic concepts with practical thinking. I teach in English and Mandarin and tailor every lesson to the student's goals.

Teaching experience

My admissions coaching has helped students secure 20+ offers from US Top 20 universities, 10+ Oxbridge offers and numerous offers across the UK G5. Among candidates I coached for Hong Kong's Top 3 universities, the interview success rate was approximately 90%. I have delivered 150+ mock interviews and supported 100+ students across school selection, application strategy, personal statements and final interviews. My coaching focuses on turning each student's academic record, interests and experiences into clear, convincing evidence.

In subject tutoring, I have taught 10+ IB Economics HL/SL students, with outcomes including improvements from predicted 4–5s to final 6–7s. I cover economic theory, diagrams, data response, essay evaluation, exam strategy and IA development. I have also reviewed 80+ personal statements and application essays, supervised 10+ research projects, and supported 20+ TOEFL/IELTS students. Since 2023, I have taught online through VIPTutors and New Oriental, working in both English and Mandarin.

Teaching methods

I make complex economics clear, structured and exam-ready. Every student starts with a short diagnostic to identify knowledge gaps, exam technique and target grade. I then build a focused plan covering concepts, diagrams, data response, essay structure and evaluation. Lessons combine concise explanation, guided practice and timed IB questions, followed by specific feedback against the mark scheme. For HL students, I also prepare Paper 3 skills. For IA work, I coach topic choice, analysis and evaluation while protecting the student's own authorship. Progress is reviewed regularly and each session ends with clear next steps.
