UK-trained English teacher, with 10 years experience, at Royal Grammar School Dubai offering GCSE, iGCSE and A-Level tutoring in Dubai
About
I am a UK-trained English teacher with nearly ten years of experience teaching in both the United Kingdom and Dubai. I currently teach at the Royal Grammar School Guildford Dubai, where I work with students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 and prepare learners for GCSE and iGCSE examinations.
Teaching has always been about more than academic content for me. I place great value on the relationships that underpin effective learning and pride myself on creating environments where students feel both supported and challenged. My classrooms are known for their warmth, positive energy and high expectations; places where students work hard, think deeply and develop genuine confidence in their abilities.
Alongside my classroom teaching, I have held pastoral leadership responsibilities as a Head of Year. This experience strengthened my understanding of the academic and personal pressures students navigate during their school journey and reinforced the importance of strong communication between school, student and home.
Ultimately, my aim is simple: to help students develop the confidence, discipline and clarity of thought required to succeed both academically and beyond the classroom.

Teaching experience
I have been teaching English for nearly a decade across both the UK and Dubai, working within the British curriculum and supporting students from Key Stage 3 through to Key Stage 5.
In my current role at the Royal Grammar School Guildford Dubai, I teach students from Years 7 to 10 and prepare learners for GCSE and iGCSE English examinations. My first examination cohort significantly exceeded their predicted grades, reflecting a focus on strong relationships, clear expectations and disciplined exam preparation.
Earlier in my career, I also served as a Head of Year at Key Stage 4, leading a large cohort of students through their GCSE journey. This role strengthened my pastoral leadership, deepened my understanding of the pressures associated with examination years and reinforced the importance of building productive partnerships with families.
Alongside my classroom responsibilities, I have consistently provided one-to-one academic support and tutoring, tailoring sessions carefully to help students strengthen their analytical thinking, refine their writing and approach examinations with greater confidence.
Teaching methods
My teaching approach combines academic rigour with genuine encouragement. I believe students make the greatest progress when they feel both challenged and supported, and I work hard to establish a climate in which effort, resilience and intellectual curiosity are valued.
Lessons are typically structured around clear learning objectives and carefully tailored to the individual student. I often begin by identifying specific areas for development before modelling strong analytical responses, guiding students through structured practice and providing detailed feedback to refine their thinking and writing.
Particular emphasis is placed on essay construction, textual analysis and examination technique, ensuring that students develop both a strong conceptual understanding and the practical skills required to succeed in assessments.
Students often describe the atmosphere in my lessons as energetic and motivating. High standards are always maintained, but learning takes place within a positive and supportive environment where students feel confident to ask questions, take risks and push themselves academically.
