Experienced International Maths Teacher, IB/A-Level/IGCSE/AP Specialist, Harvard CSML, 12+ Years Tutoring Experience
About
I am an experienced international Mathematics educator and tutor with over 12 years of experience supporting students across IB DP, MYP, A-Level, IGCSE, AP and other international curricula. I currently teach Mathematics at an international school in Singapore and have previously held academic leadership roles, including Head of Department, Academic Manager and Vice Principal.
My tutoring focuses on helping students build confidence, close gaps in understanding and develop strong exam technique. I have experience preparing students for IB DP Mathematics AA/AI, A-Level Mathematics, IGCSE and Additional Mathematics, AP Calculus and Statistics, as well as mathematics competitions. I believe in clear explanations, structured practice and adapting my teaching style to each student’s needs.
In addition to teaching, I have a strong interest in educational leadership, technology in learning and student well-being. I have completed the Certificate in School Management and Leadership from Harvard Graduate School of Education and regularly engage with professional development in international education. Outside the classroom, I have a background in dance and performance, which helps me bring energy, clarity and confidence to my teaching.
Teaching experience
I have over 12 years of experience teaching and tutoring Mathematics across international curricula, including IB DP, IB MYP, IGCSE, A-Level, AP and other school programmes. I have worked with students from upper primary to pre-university level, supporting both day-to-day learning and high-stakes examination preparation.
My previous teaching work includes roles as a Mathematics teacher, Head of Department, Academic Manager and Vice Principal in international and online school settings. I have taught students with a wide range of abilities, from those needing additional support and confidence-building to high-achieving students preparing for advanced courses, university entry and mathematics competitions.
I have extensive experience designing lessons, preparing assessments, giving detailed feedback, mentoring students and supporting families with academic planning. My teaching approach is structured, student-centred and focused on helping learners understand concepts deeply, improve exam technique and become more independent in their studies.
Teaching methods
My lessons are structured, clear and adapted to each student’s level. I usually begin by checking prior understanding, then explain the key concept step by step, model exam-style examples, and guide the student through practice questions. I focus on identifying gaps, correcting misconceptions and helping students build confidence through carefully selected tasks.
As a tutor, I am patient, encouraging and highly focused on progress. I combine strong subject knowledge with international school experience, so I understand both curriculum expectations and examination requirements. My goal is not only to help students get the correct answer, but also to understand the method, improve their reasoning and become more independent learners.
