Oral examiner in engineering sciences for preparatory classes (classe préparatoire) from 2023 to 2025 (at the private school Sainte Geneviève and at Parc Vilgénis).

My methods will necessarily adapt depending on the student's level and the subject, but they are generally based on 3 pillars.
First, understanding through example/visualization. For instance: the formula for the area of a right triangle is much easier to remember when you keep in mind that it's a rectangle cut in half.
The second point is to let the child/student work things out. Watching how they approach the problem on their own in order to truly understand where the problem/misunderstanding lies, rather than doing the exercise for the child.
The last one, linked to the 2nd, is to do a lot of exercises, and to know when to stop. A lot of exercises done by the child alone, which I then correct at the end. But also knowing when to stop and giving exercises to do between 2 lessons for 2 reasons. First, so that it's not just immediate memory that works, but also to let them "mature" (an expression from my prep school teacher). When introducing a complicated concept, it's better to leave a little time to make it one's own and assimilate it rather than wanting to apply it right away.

Mes méthodes vont forcément s'adapter en fonction du niveau de l'élève et de la matière, mais ça se base en général sur 3 piliers.
Tout d'abord, comprendre par l'exemple/ la visualisation. Par exemple: la formule de l'air du triangle rectangle est beaucoup plus facile à retenir quand tu retiens que c'est un rectangle coupé en 2.
Le deuxième point est de laisser faire l'enfant/élève. Le voir comment il aborde le problème de lui même afin de comprendre réellement où est le problème/ l'incompréhension, plutôt que de faire l'exercice à la place de l'enfant.
Le dernier, lié au 2ème, est de faire beaucoup d'exercices, et de savoir s'arrêter. Beaucoup d'exercices, fait pas l'enfant seul on je corrige à la fin. Mais aussi savoir s'arrêter et donner des exercices à faire entre 2 cours pour 2 raisons. De 1, que ce ne soit pas que la mémoire immédiate qui fonctionne, mais aussi pour les laisser "maturer" (expression de mon professeur en prépa). Quand on introduit une notion compliquée, il vaut mieux laisser un peu de temps pour se l'approprier et l'assimiler plutôt que vouloir l'appliquer tout de suite.
