Helping GCSE and A-Level learners develop their speaking confidence.
About
My love of languages began at 11 with French lessons at school, and it’s shaped my life ever since. I earned an MA (Hons) in French and Italian from the University of Edinburgh, studied abroad in France and Italy, and later founded Learning Languages with Lou in 2020 to combine my passion with over 12 years of teaching and admin experience.
I now teach English, French, and Italian to learners of all ages—toddlers, GCSE and A-level students, and adults—both in London and online. Drawing on my background in acting, I make lessons engaging with games, music, and theatre, while also supporting learners who doubt their “natural talent” for languages. Alongside private lessons, I offer corporate training and bilingual EA/PA support.
When I’m not teaching, you’ll find me exploring London, catching theatre shows, or spending time with my young family.

Teaching experience
Over the past 10+ years, I've taught French, English, and Italian across schools, private tuition, adult education, and international settings. Since founding Learning Languages with Lou in 2020, I've delivered bespoke 1:1 and small-group language programmes and professional coaching to a client base that now spans internationally. Previously, I tutored GCSE French students at Holland Park Tuition & Education Consultants, supporting exam technique and confidence across all four language skills, alongside teaching adult beginners, primary and secondary pupils, and gaining early experience teaching internationally. I've also spent nearly a decade in higher education administration at institutions including UCL, King's College London, and Durham University, which continues to inform how I structure lessons and support students.
Teaching methods
My lessons are built around engagement: drawing on my background in acting, I use games, music, and theatre techniques to bring language learning to life, structuring each session to build confidence alongside skill—especially for learners who doubt their "natural talent" for languages. As a tutor, I'm patient, energetic, and deeply invested in helping each student unlock their own language potential, adapting my approach to fit their goals, pace, and personality." As I am an actor, I also believe strongly in bringing learning to life outside of the classroom and encourage immersive experiences. I am a friendly, open and encouraging tutor who supports predominantly GCSE learners and above.
