In the final year of high school (Terminale), learning philosophy is not just about memorizing concepts or knowing authors. It is above all about learning to think, to build one's own personal reasoning and to know how to express it precisely.
In my lessons, I begin by identifying each student's difficulties and needs. Some need to consolidate their knowledge, others need to better understand concepts, improve their writing, or acquire a genuine method to succeed in the baccalauréat topics.
I therefore work on both content and method. Together, we go over the concepts of the curriculum, clarifying them through philosophers and essential philosophical questions. I then teach the student to analyze a topic precisely, to avoid misinterpretations, to formulate a problem statement and to build an outline with a coherent and progressive line of reasoning, in order to succeed in the dissertation and text commentary exams. I offer a clear method, but I especially make sure that the student understands it and can gradually make it their own. We work together on baccalauréat topics, outlines, introductions, developments and corrections of assignments, so that mistakes become real opportunities to progress.
I favor constant dialogue with the student: I encourage them to ask questions, to argue, to formulate their own ideas and not to be afraid of making mistakes. Philosophy must remain an exercise in reflection and discovery, not merely an accumulation of knowledge to be memorized.
My goal is for the student to gradually learn to think for themselves, gain confidence and become independent, while mastering the precise requirements of the baccalauréat exam. I thus strive to combine rigor and kindness, so that each student can progress at their own pace and approach the exam with method, serenity and joy.
