Teaching methods
I am an experienced Psychology and English tutor with over 18 years of teaching across international, UK and American curriculum schools. I specialise in GCSE, A Level, IB and American curricula, supporting secondary and post-16 students who want to build both subject mastery and exam confidence. I also work with University students, providing one-to-one support with research, academic writing and essay structuring. My background as a Head of Department and Pastoral Leader allows me to combine academic expertise with strong pastoral care, ensuring that every student feels both challenged and supported in their learning journey.
My lessons are carefully structured to meet the individual needs of each student. Sessions often begin with a quick review of key concepts, followed by focused teaching on new material, interactive discussions and application through past paper questions or practical tasks. I make sure to integrate study skills, essay writing techniques and critical thinking exercises into my lessons, so students develop strong academic habits alongside subject knowledge. Wellbeing strategies, such as confidence building and stress management, are also woven in to help students perform at their best in assessments.
As a tutor, I am patient, approachable and highly organised, with a passion for helping learners reach their full potential. I aim to create a safe, engaging and motivating environment where students are encouraged to ask questions, explore ideas and grow in confidence. My holistic approach means that lessons are not only about passing exams but also about developing resilience, self belief and the skills to succeed beyond the classroom.
